As interest rates fall and move towards the historical average, there are some strategies that could help you along the way.
- consider a slightly longer term then just the one year. (The rates are slightly lower but you still achieve a higher than normal rates for a longer period - compounding).
- consider purchasing an equity linked GIC. These GIC share the return from a stock market index📈 while still protecting 🔐 your principal.

- Rate Advantage(RA)GICs - locked or cashable
- locked RA GIC increases your interest rate each year. This approaches allows you to achieve a higher yield to maturity. For an example: 5year locked normal GIC is 3.9% and a rate advantage 5year is 4.1699% ( these are the current rates and cannot guarantee these rates as they and change daily).
-CASHABLE RA - 2, 3 or 5year terms. The rates are all about ~4%. If you purchase the 5year rate advantage cashable GIC. You are getting a very solid long term rate BUT have the option to cash out some or all each anniversary date without penalty.
