"Like road safety or financial literacy, cyber awareness isn’t a single lesson. It’s a set of habits that develop over time – habits that can help children protect their personal information, spot potential threats and build a healthier relationship with technology as they grow."

Today’s kids and teens spend much of their lives online. Learn how simple cyber safety habits can protect them today and for years to come.

"Some cookies make your experience smoother and more efficient. Others, however, allow your data to be collected and shared more widely than you might expect."

Accepting cookies or allowing app permissions without a second thought quickly shapes how your data is collected and used. Here’s how to stay in control without disrupting your digital life.

"Today’s scam may look different from tomorrow’s, but the underlying playbook rarely changes. There’s an offer that’s too good to ignore, pressure to act quickly and a request for a password, payment or personal information. Kids and teens who learn to recognize that pattern don’t need to memorize every scam – they’ll have the skills to spot the next one, whatever form it takes."

Financial and digital literacy go hand in hand: protecting a child’s money now depends on knowing how to safely navigate the digital world.

"Preparing children for adulthood involves helping them develop the judgment to make good calls on their own. Today, many of those calls happen in digital spaces, where personal information, financial information and online interactions are closely connected. Financial literacy teaches young people to be deliberate with their money; digital literacy teaches them to be just as deliberate with the choices they make about that money online."

"Digital security isn’t a one-and-done kind of task. Rather, regularly reviewing your digital footprint is the best way to keep it clean and up to date. Pick a date in your calendar and spend an hour reviewing privacy settings, removing unused accounts and turning on 2FA anywhere it isn’t already automatic. That’s all it takes!"

From websites visited to social media interactions, you leave behind a digital trail of online activity. Here’s how to help protect your information online.

"Enjoying our later years, while preparing for the possibility of declining health, requires a detailed plan that takes into consideration both health and wealth. While it may be uncomfortable for some to talk about, it’s important to have these conversations early and often to ensure one’s wishes are known and put into writing....Without clear directions your family may disagree with one another and end up in unintended conflict."

Amid rising rates of dementia, RBC Wealth Management helps Canadians prepare for—and enjoy—a long and healthy retirement.

Longevity planning isn't just about making sure you don't outlive your money. It's about planning for the full reality of a longer life — including the possibility that you'll one day become a caregiver. Or need one.

I encourage you to check out a powerful episode of the Chatter That Matters podcast featuring Amy Coupal, CEO of the Ontario Caregiver Organization. The episode is called "Suddenly, A Caregiver," and that word 'suddenly' says it all.

Most people don't plan to become caregivers. It happens after a fall, a diagnosis, a phone call that changes everything. And when it does, the financial, emotional, and professional impact can be staggering.

Amy's message is clear: identify yourself as a caregiver, seek support early, and don't wait for the emergency to start the conversation. The same is true for the financial side. The best time to plan for caregiving, whether giving it or receiving it, is long before you need to.

If you'd like to talk about how caregiving might factor into your own financial plan, I'm always here for that conversation.

“Financing an education often involves balancing multiple sources of funding,” says Jennifer Zanatta, Senior Director of Personal Lending at Royal Bank of Canada. “When there’s a shortfall, we’ve commonly seen a student line of credit as one option to consider. Speaking with an advisor can help students understand both the opportunities and responsibilities that come with banking products.”

Paying for post-secondary education can be challenging, especially when savings and part-time work aren’t enough to cover tuition and living costs. In those situations, a student line of credit can help bridge the gap.
