A petition to increase the Canada Pension Plan (CPP) Death Benefit (which has been frozen at $2,500 since 1998) to $6,400 and restore annual indexation has been filed with the House of Commons.

2026 BC Budget: Mixed Impacts for Businesses

The 2026 BC Budget introduces significant changes - and challenges - for businesses.

PST Expansion (Oct 1, 2026)
• PST will apply to accounting, architecture, engineering, property management, security, and commercial real estate services.
• Additional PST impacts include clothing repair materials, fabrics, basic cable, and residential phone services. Many service-based businesses will need to update billing systems and pricing.

Investment Incentives
• 15% Manufacturing & Processing Investment Tax Credit
• Enhanced SR&ED tax credits for tech and innovation firms
• Temporary forestry relief through voluntary stumpage deferral

📣ATTENTION CLIENTS📣

I am in the process of transitioning my firm name back to my maiden name. Please note, Leanne M. Goddard, Chartered Professional Accountant will now be referred to as Leanne M. Cutts, Chartered Professional Accountant.

This transition will take a while to fully complete but I wanted to keep everyone informed as well as potential new clients.

Furthermore, I am now located in Baynes Lake however, I am utilizing the Ground Floor Coworking Space as my office base in Cranbrook.

For now, all other contact information will remain the same. I have had some phone issues over the last several months but hopefully that has all been resolved.

I want to thank all my clients, friends and family for their support during this transition. 🥰
