Erin grew up on a farm, and on a farm, if you are sick, the animals still need to be fed.

That is not a mindset you learn in a classroom. That is a perspective you carry for life.

When she was deciding whether to write a book, she asked herself the same question most entrepreneurs ask when something meaningful is on the table:
"Do I have time to do this?"

Then she remembered what her mentor always told her: "If you want to, you would."

So, she did.

Because she realized the book was the answer to a question she had been asking for years, how do I help more people without it being one coffee, one phone call, one Zoom at a time?

The book was the answer. And she learned a lot about herself while writing it.

Here is a question worth sitting with: Is the environment you are in right now helping you grow or just keeping you busy?

Ashley Doyle asked himself that question. He had spent years leading soldiers in Afghanistan. When he found the Infinite Banking Concept and eventually joined the Ascendant Financial team, something shifted.

Not just the career. The trajectory.

EP 330 covers what that shift actually looks like for advisors, for clients, and for anyone who has ever wondered if there is a better way to build something meaningful.

Jayson Lowe opened this episode with something that made us laugh and then think.

"This episode is definitely not about some guy who watched three YouTube videos, bought a blazer too tight in the shoulders, and started calling himself a wealth strategist."

This episode is about Ashley Doyle.

5th generation of his family to serve Canada. Years leading people in Afghanistan, the former Yugoslavia and Eastern Europe. Real pressure, not "my Zoom froze" kind of pressure.

And now he is bringing that same calm, disciplined leadership into helping Canadian families and business owners take control of their financial lives through the Infinite Banking Concept.

The most important thing Ash said in the entire episode:

"I'm more focused on making the people that we work with heroes to their families than I am on being a hero to them."

That is what service looks like when it moves from one career into another.

For advisors listening: Ash also speaks directly to what it feels like when your growth feels capped and what changes when you find an environment where culture and mentorship actually matter.

"If you die too soon, you'll be a hero to your family."
"If you live too long, you'll be a hero to your family."

Think about that for a second.

Most financial plans are built around one of those two scenarios, usually the first one. We plan for what happens when we are gone. We rarely plan for what happens if we stay.

But longevity risk is more real today than it has ever been.

If you are a 65-year-old couple right now, there is a very high probability that one of you will live well into your 90s.

Living to age 100 is no longer a freak statistical accident.

And if medicine keeps advancing the way it is, age 100 could eventually feel like today's age 85.

The question is not whether you will live a long life. The question is whether your financial system is built for one.

We just released a full episode on exactly this: what actually happens to a dividend-paying whole life policy at age 100 in Canada and 121 in the US.

Already have an IUL, and now you're discovering infinite banking?

First: do not panic.
Second: here is exactly what to do next.

Before you book a clarity call with an IBC advisor, do three things:
1. Write down every question and concern you have about your existing IUL. Be specific: surrender charges, cost of insurance, cash value projections, anything you do not fully understand.

2. Pull your most recent policy statement. Email it to the advisor before the meeting, not during. Send it in advance so they can review it properly and come prepared.

3. Be clear about what you want. Tell them: "I am interested in the infinite banking concept. I want to explore that, but I have this existing policy, and I have questions about it."

There is a difference between an insurance conversation and an infinite banking conversation. A good advisor will know how to handle both, but you need to signal which one you need.

Can I use an IUL for infinite banking?

Short answer: No.

Here's why in plain English.

The Infinite Banking Concept works by borrowing from a mutual insurance company, using your policy as collateral, while your cash value keeps compounding uninterrupted inside the policy.

That process requires three things:
1) A specially designed dividend-paying whole life policy
2) A mutual insurance company you co-own
3) A disciplined repayment system

An IUL has none of those three things in the way IBC requires.

The policy is not infinite banking. It is simply the engine. And the engine matters.

Richard breaks this down in 30 seconds in the clip above.

The full episode goes much deeper, including two of our advisors who bought IULs themselves before they knew better.

I never sold one when I was in the business, and I surely wouldn't buy one." That's Nelson Nash. Page 39. Becoming Your Own Banker.

The man who created the Infinite Banking Concept, who sat on the Million Dollar Roundtable, won lifetime achievement awards, spent 35 years in the insurance industry, and never once sold an Indexed Universal Life policy.

Not once.

Yet right now, social media is full of people calling IUL "infinite banking 2.0." Telling you it is a better version of the concept. That it illustrates better, performs better, gives you more upside.

Here is what those illustrations do not show you:

The hockey stick. The annual renewing term insurance cost that grows exponentially as you age. The compound decline that kicks in the moment you stop funding and start borrowing. The surrender charges. The risk that gets passed back to you, the policy owner, when the insurance company's assumptions are wrong.

In our latest episode, Richard Canfield sits down with two of our US advisors, Josh Fyhrie and Garrett Gastil, to unpack all of it. Including Josh's honest confession that he bought one himself before he knew better.

This is not an IUL bashing session. It is an honest conversation about why the wrong tool for the right process causes real harm.

Happy Canada Day! 🍁

We celebrate freedom today. But here's something worth reflecting on: How much of your money are you actually free to control?

With Infinite Banking, you become your own banker. No waiting for loan approvals. No paying interest to institutions. Just you, in control of your wealth, building it on your terms.

That's the kind of independence that compounds over a lifetime and creates a legacy for your family.

If you've been curious about how this works, our podcast explores real stories from Canadians doing exactly this.
