As a CRA account user, you can avoid missing important updates by switching your correspondence preference from paper to electronic mail.

Here’s how to make the switch in seven easy steps:

1️⃣ Sign in to your CRA account
2️⃣ Select your individual account to go to My Account
3️⃣ Select Profile, and go to Notification preferences
4️⃣ Select Edit, and then select Start
5️⃣ Select Electronic mail, then select Next
6️⃣ Tick the box to confirm you agree with the Terms of use
7️⃣ Select Submit

Still getting paper cheques? They’ll keep coming by mail unless you sign up for direct deposit.

Do you get benefit and credit payments from us?

To amend a Canadian tax return, wait for your Notice of Assessment, then use the "Change my return" service in CRA My Account (fastest) or use ReFILE through your tax software. Alternatively, mail a completed Form T1-ADJ along with supporting documents to your tax centre. You can amend returns for the last 10 year
