Just finished volunteering during maple fest in Huntsville at the Rotary pancake breakfast. Quickly watching the event before home and squared a $10 off card to The Mill On Main which makes awesome wood fired pizzas. Had to stop and due to maple fest they had some specials including this wood fired maple bacon pizza! To die for!

Apparently at Highway 9 & Jane today… buddy decided the best place to store his boat was directly inside the bed of his pickup. Efficient. Bold. Slightly misunderstood.

No ramp, no water—just a full send into “we’ll figure it out when we get there” energy.

You’ve gotta respect the confidence though. Trailer said “I quit,” boat said “I got this,” and physics just sat back like… this should be interesting.

Personally, I prefer my dramatic moments a little more controlled… but if I ever make an entrance, I promise it won’t involve explaining to insurance why my boat tried to hug my truck.

Do you have snow where you are today? We’ve had big beautiful flakes showing up all morning…beautiful to watch out the window while working. Enough snow came down that the driveway and road looked like this picture this morning. Half hour north of me had freezing ice pallets as well and busses were pulled off the roads for the kids today. What’s it like where you are share your pics!

Back at the Barrelhouse for a “quick bite”… which is exactly how all great decisions start.

This week’s special: brisket quesadilla.
Same brisket from that pasta in March—the one that made me question every other life choice I’ve made since.

Let’s just say… it didn’t disappoint.
Crispy, cheesy, a little bit indulgent—basically the culinary version of good company.

I went in for a casual snack and left emotionally invested. Might have to come back… strictly for the brisket, obviously. 😉

And now for something completely different…Happy Easter everyone!

So what was up next? The Simcoe Muskoka Social Events Group headed to Quayle’s Brewery last night for their maple festival… and Quayle’s clearly understood the assignment.

The regular menu looked ridiculously good — somebody ordered a stew that looked like it had been slow-cooked by woodland angels. But many of us took our maple duties seriously and sampled the features:

Maple butternut squash soup — basically fall in a hug…explains why Miss Huggins enjoyed that! 😋

Chicken and waffles with chili-infused maple syrup, topped with tater tots… a combination so bold it felt like it should come with a signed waiver. Sweet, spicy, crispy, chaotic genius — the kind of plate that makes you lock eyes with strangers like “you seeing this too?” 😳

And their maple coffee stout with a maple icing rim… which had people at the table reacting like they’d just discovered beer had a wild side. Somewhere between “this is amazing” and “this might ruin all other beer for us forever.”

The live music was definitely on the enthusiastically loud side, so conversation occasionally turned into smiling, nodding, and hoping for the best — but it was still a great night to meet more new people, have some laughs, and get up to some quality tomfoolery.

And then… Dilbert the Pickle showed up.
Not introduced. Not explained. Just fully present like he owned the place.
And at some point you realize it’s not even a person — it’s a wooden yarn pickle… somehow still holding more presence than most of us.

Great people, great energy, and just enough nonsense to make it a night worth repeating 😏
