Our team at Concierge Wealth Management Inc had the honour of attending Poppy’s Path, a remarkable charity event supporting families affected by BPAN — a rare and devastating neurological disease.

Held at the beautiful Brookstreet Hotel, the dinner dance was exceptionally well executed, bringing together community leaders, families, and supporters for an evening of purpose and generosity. The silent auction featured an impressive array of high-quality prizes, and the energy in the room reflected a shared commitment to making a meaningful difference.

Poppy’s Path was founded by Poppy’s parents, Peter Roy-Smith and Kaitlin Eagles. Their courage, leadership, and unwavering dedication to raising awareness and advancing research for BPAN is truly inspiring. We are grateful for the opportunity to stand alongside them in support of this important cause.

We were proud to have our team members Christian Rivet and Elizabeth Wilkes representing our firm at the event, alongside members of our broader community including Simon Garner.

Did you know that exhaust fans cause many home fires?

Exhaust fans are not only located in bathrooms, but you can also find them above the stovetop, laundry rooms, and attic spaces. These fans typically have a small 1 amp pull on the motor. However, when the motor stalls due to the build-up of lint and debris, the current can increase to about 10 amps, resulting in a fire. Over time, these exhaust fans become congested, creating more fuel for a fire.

A few ways to prevent this from happening are to:
⏲️ Install a timer (optimal run time is between 15-20 minutes)
🌬️ Maintain regular cleaning and inspection (every 6 months to one year)
👂🏽 Always keep an ear out for strange noises coming from the fan or the smell of smoke.

With record profits for oil companies, isn’t it absout time they were made to clean up their own mess?

Oil sands tailings “ponds” are immense lakes of toxic waste created by oil companies. "They now contain over 1.4 trillion litres of toxic fluid and sprawl over 300 square kilometres — an area 2.6 times the size of Vancouver. The situation has grown out of control, and oil companies are now asking the government to allow them to release the tailings into the Athabasca River, which flows north into one of the largest freshwater deltas in the world.
