The Future of Trades Includes Financial Wellness

Proud to partner with , a company that recognizes its greatest asset is its people.

I want to acknowledge Trufinity for the culture they are creating. A culture that genuinely cares about the employees who make this company great. By investing in financial education and money confidence, they are helping their team build not only successful careers, but stronger futures.

Financial confidence reduces stress, improves focus, increases engagement, and helps employees see a future worth working toward. When people understand how to grow, protect, and optimize what they earn, everyone benefits.

Raised in a hardworking trades family and raising my family in one today, I’ve seen firsthand the sacrifices tradespeople make to build our communities. Too often, workers are paid well but never given the tools to manage, grow, and maximize the opportunities their income can create.

That is why this work matters to me. My passion is helping hardworking people build wealth, create security, and gain the confidence to take control of their financial future.

Thank you, Trufinity, for recognizing that investing in your people goes beyond a paycheck.

Your Money. Your Plan. Your Future.

ONE IDEA - ONE YES - A LIFETIME OF IMPACT

It was a privilege and honestly a deeply moving experience to be part of the first inaugural Past President Luncheon for Kelowna Women in Business.

In one room sat 27 women representing generations of leadership. From the founding women 33 years ago, to the boards who helped bring KWIB into a non-profit society, to the leaders carrying it forward today.

We were honoured to have founding members Christine Juba and Linda Edgecombe, Motivational Speaker in attendance.

Christine shared how 33 years ago, in a time when “women were fighting for equal pay for equal work,” a group of women simply had an idea: to come together, support one another, refer business to each other, and create community.

For their very first presentation, they estimated 50–60 women might attend.
Over 100 women showed up!

That moment alone spoke volumes about the need for connection, support, and community among women in business.

Also in attendance were past board members and past RISE finalists . Women who have continued building on that original vision over the decades. Sitting in that room, I felt overwhelming gratitude for what these women created.

I wonder if they could have ever imagined the ripple effect of one idea put into action.
The hundreds , maybe even thousands of women whose lives have been impacted through mentorship, opportunities, encouragement, referrals, friendship, and business growth because they chose to begin.

I know personally that over the last four years, I have experienced all of this and more because of the work, courage, and generosity of the women who came before us.

So here’s your reminder:

If you have an idea don’t just sit on it.

Put it into action.

Because 33 years later, you may look back and realize that one brave “yes” created community, changed lives, opened doors, built businesses, and made an impact far beyond anything you could have imagined.

Last night was truly special.

To witness the 6th Annual RISE Awards and see how this event has grown over the years was breathtaking. More than ever, you could feel the heart behind every finalist and what it meant to be recognized for their sacrifice, leadership, resilience, and hard work.

One of the most powerful parts of the evening was watching the community rally around these women with so much love, celebration, and support.

To the boards who built this event, and to the board today , thank you for your selfless giving, the countless hours, and the care behind every decision. As Paula so beautifully said, this event has made a significant impact on the women recognized through it . A moment they will never forget.

And to everyone who continues to show up year after year, thank you. In all the ways you could spend your time, you choose to spend it lifting others up, pouring belief into them, and reminding women that what is possible for one can become possible for another. 🤍

This week, I had the privilege of sitting down with our Executive Director, Lori Stevenson and fellow director Chandel Schmidt, to reflect on an incredible 2025 for Dress for Success.

The numbers tell a powerful story:

✨ A 48% increase in revenue

✨ Over $106,000 raised through a highly successful Watch Her Soar event . Kelowna thank you for truly showing up

✨ A Set Up for Success program that more than doubled, supporting women in confidence, self-development, and professional skills

✨ A 50% increase in clients served compared to 2024

Behind those numbers are real women . Women who walked into our boutique, were styled with care, and walked out with the confidence to make a lasting first impression… and land the interview that leads to meaningful employment.

This is how we build stronger families, stronger communities, and a stronger workforce.

I asked, “What a phenomenal year ;why such an increase?”

There was a pause.

Because by all indicators, it shouldn’t have happened.

Community partners faced funding cuts.
Immigration policy shifts impacted the number of newcomers we typically support.

And yet…

Lori answered “The answer is so clear.”

These numbers reflect something deeper. A growing need right here at home.
Local women are seeking meaningful employment. Not just jobs ; but opportunities that allow them to house, shelter, and feed their families… to ignite careers, and to transform their futures.

And thanks to this community, they’re not doing it alone.

And as we look ahead to 2026, the vision is even bigger.

More women walking through those doors.
More confidence rebuilt.
More careers launched.

Not because the need is growing; but because the response is.

Because a community continues to rise, invest, and believe in what’s possible when women are given the opportunity to succeed.🙌

CALLING IN OUR COMMUNITY 📣

Krystal Withakay , a Syilx Okanagan Nation artist and knowledge keeper, has given so much of herself over the past few years to all of us . Her art, her knowledge, her stories, her traditions.

She has shown up for us again and again, sharing pieces of her culture and her heart in a way that has impacted so many. Standing so courageous in big rooms and vulnerably sharing it all, building bridges and hope .

Now, she needs us.

After the devastating loss of her home in a horrible fire, it’s our turn to give back.

Krystal at the 2024 Kelowna Women in Business Rise Awards , you spoke about the gifts of the female aspect . How we can work past exhaustion, work past grief, and through everything life asks of us. You got this. You are born from a long line of strong , tenacious and brave ancestors .

Krystal you also spoke about reciprocity.

This is that moment.

I am committing to donating to Krystal’s GoFundMe in support of her and her family as they rebuild. I challenge all community leaders. Especially those of us who have asked Krystal to show up, to share, and to give so much of herself , to do the same. It’s only fair we give too.

Let’s stand beside her the way she has stood for so many of us. 💛
