Happy Birthday Dad!

Here is an oldie but a goodie. Today is a mixed one for you I know. The day you had to say goodbye to your mom and also the day heaven gained an angel with your grandson Colin.

But I have to celebrate today, Dad, because it’s the day we got you.

The man that showed so much unconditional love, care, and comfort to two daughters 44 years ago and today. The man who provided never complained and influenced so much of who we are today.

As years continue to arrive, I am so sincerely grateful that I have you in my life.

And still to this day when every man , woman , and child is crumbling you are the pillar and at the same time the warm, gentle and secure place to snuggle into.

You are still the best trucker (just got driver of the year at age 70!) Papa , and Dad in the world.

Happy Birthday . Love you. You are celebrated!

I Took Something Away… But It’s Not What You Think.

At a ladies’ luncheon with Sherrone Lobban, I had the privilege of hearing Heidi McLaughlin speak about Finding Your Purpose.

She shared a story that has stayed with me.

After the passing of her first husband, Heidi set a goal to write down 10,000 reasons she was grateful. She started her gratitude journal in 2011, writing in it every single day. In 2024, she reached her goal.

I’ve always believed in keeping a gratitude journal. I practice gratitude regularly. But that wasn’t what impacted me most.

It was this.

She stayed committed to one goal for 13 years.

How many of us can honestly say we’ve stayed consistent with the same meaningful goal for 13 years?

So often we quit because we don’t see immediate results.

But what if we chose to take one intentional step every single day for 13 years?

What would our fitness look like?

Our business?

Our relationships?

Our faith?

Our finances?

As a wealth advisor, this hit home. Financial confidence isn’t built overnight. It’s built through small, intentional decisions repeated consistently over time. Saving a little. Investing regularly. Reviewing your plan. Staying the course.

Compound growth doesn’t just apply to money. It applies to every area of our lives.

Heidi’s story lit a fire in me. It reminded me that consistency matters. Routine matters. The small actions we take today become the extraordinary results we experience tomorrow.

So whatever you’re working toward…

Keep going.

Enormous Congratulations to Sharon Bondhogg and the team Kapi Chido Coffee Roasters. Westbank.

Today was the Grand Opening. Located at 📍 101–3310 Carrington Road, Westbank on the Syilx Okanagan Territory .

A few things you need to know on why Kapi Chido needs to be a destination on your MUST visit summer list

1) DELICIOUS roasted in-house local coffee

2) Sharon is an inspiration to all business leaders. An Indigenous woman business owner who grew up in Merritt on Nlaka’pamux Territory.

She has opened 5 Kekuli Cafes across BC and now has opened the Roastery that will provide the beans for them all. Pretty impressive if you ask me!

3) Sharon’s Kekuli Cafe is employing our youth, and developing up the leadership ranks all the way to owning their own stores. Elijah worked his way up Kekuli to purchasing his own store in his 20s and now the proud owner of two locations in his early 30s.

4) This commercial space that Sharon has purchased will also provide a board room and office space for local businesses and entrepreneurs to rent . Providing new dreams to become a reality.

5) Kapi means coffee in the Nlaka’pamux language and “Chido” is slang for awesome!

6) Sharon’s dream , a place where community can come together. Share , tell stories, learn from one another and connect

You can opt into the Special Benefits EI program

Access to:
Maternity, Parental, Sickness, Compassionate Care, Family Caregiver

Max insurable earnings =$65,700 a year
Earn 55%=Max benefit $695 a week

Your maximum premium- $1,077.48 a year

You earn potentially- $38,225 for one mat + parental leave

Second mat + parental leave - would add to a total $76,450 benefit

If you paid in for 30 years:

You pay approx $32,310

Two mat + parental leaves you receive $76,450

Things to note:

You must be in the program for 12 months before you can claim.

Once you claim you must pay in for the entire time you are self employed.
