Earlier this month we celebrated Canada Day and it struck me as I was walking down St. John’s harbourfront, seeing the Navy and Coast Guard ships, all the brave people who risk their lives daily to ensure my freedom. They provide me a safe space where I can express my opinions without fear, raise a family and build a business that are both thriving. Thank you! I am eternally grateful.

It was an inspiring morning at the Cambridge Chamber of Commerce’s Women Take Charge Breakfast. We were fortunate to be seated with North Dumfries Mayor Susan Foxton whose honesty, integrity and love for people was a reminder to us that local politics matter a great deal. We also had the opportunity to hear from Connie Cody, Member of Parliament for Cambridge. As Cambridge’s first female federal representative, Connie has already made significant strides, passing her first bill within just six months of taking office. Lessons we took from her talk: What may initially seem like failure can be turned into success when viewed through the right lens. Success is defined not by what you have but by how you make others feel. Above all, stay true to yourself, your family and your community.
