Having a business that includes my husband, my mom, and my son is such a blessing. Not to mention the countless cousins and friends building successful agencies across Canada alongside me.

World Financial Group has been a platform for success that allows people to start as a trainee and work towards business ownership and agency. The balance of autonomy and teamwork, competition and collaboration has allowed many of my family and friends to build a career here, too.

How cool is that? It’s not just me that wins - it’s our family, our friends, our clients, and our communities. What a blessing!

I like who I’m becoming.
It’s not what I thought it would be but I like it a lot.

For most of my life I was an all-or-nothing kind of girl. That served me well for a long time. Until it didn’t.

At 46 years old, I’m discovering that I can be a powerful business leader AND a contemplative retreat facilitator. I’ve learned that I am systematic and disciplined AND creative and adventurous. I have found myself ā€˜in the zone’ while teaching crowds of thousands of friends AND quietly holding space for one stranger. And I love all of it.

Don’t let anyone (including yourself) hold you back from being all you can be. Just because it’s ā€˜different’ or ā€˜weird’ doesn’t make it wrong. Not everyone will encourage or understand your path but that’s okay because it’s yours, not theirs; they don’t have to understand it.

I’ve taken time off of social media quite a bit over the last year, going days or even weeks without checking Facebook, Instagram, Goodreads, etc. But I’m just over here in the garden, or training a new business partner, or climbing a mountain, or helping a client, or painting, or reading, or listening. And it feels good. All of it.

Pro tip:

Don’t quit!

In 20 years of business, I’ve watched hundreds of people quit on themselves. It’s heartbreaking to see but it happens all the time. People give up on their dreams, their goals, and their family. The most common excuses people make when they give up on their dreams are ā€˜I don’t have time’ or ā€˜I can’t afford it’ or ā€˜My [husband/wife/mom/friend] doesn’t think I should do it’.

Successful people MAKE THE TIME.
Successful people FIND THE MONEY.
Successful people DON’T LET ANYONE TALK THEM OUT OF THEIR DREAMS AND GOALS.

Are you paying too much for your life insurance, illness insurance, or health insurance?

If you haven’t reviewed your policies in the last few years, you’re probably paying too much. Prices have come down on a lot of these products in the last decade.

If your income or debt-load has changed, your insurance should probably be changed to reflect these needs.

Most work benefit plans are not enough for your needs. I hear first-hand stories all the time about people realizing too late that their benefits didn’t cover what they expected.

Most people neglect to assess their illness coverage. More and more, Canadians are hit with cancer, heart attack, or stroke and they are living to tell the story - that’s the good news! But if you don’t have critical illness coverage with your insurance, you’ll end of draining your savings or going into debt while you recover.

It’s important to review your life, illness, and health insurance every few year. Our lives can change so much in just a few years and we need to keep our financial plans current.

What I love most about being an entrepreneur is being my own boss, no limit on my income, the choice of who to work with, putting my family first, and flexibility of my time.

Are you an entrepreneur?
Yes: Please tell me what you love about it.
No: Please tell me why not.

Today’s RESP is not your Grandma’s RESP.

RESPs (Registered Education Savings Plans) are not what they used to be.

When I was a kid my mom worked hard to save for my Post-Secondary education only to find that I had been ā€˜aged’ out of receiving all my benefits at 24 years old.

Thankfully, RESPs can now be held to age 35, can be used for ANY kind of post-secondary education (not just a 4 year degree program), can be used to cover more than just the cost of tuition (think textbooks, rent, car payments, and more) and can be eligible for more grants beyond the standard 20% federal government match.

Reach out to us if you want to understand more about this great way to save for your kids’ future.

Don’t wait for motivation to come to you.
Momentum requires movement.

Successful people know that winning comes from taking action even when you don’t ā€˜feel’ like it.
The more you move forward, the easier it gets. The more consistent you are, the easier it is to gain momentum.
