We’re very happy to share that Jaxson Koch has been promoted to Senior Accountant!

Since joining Avisar, Jaxson has continued to grow his skills, take on greater responsibility and establish himself as a thoughtful and dependable member of our accounting team. This past year also brought an important professional milestone as he successfully completed the Common Final Exam (“CFE”) and earned his CPA designation.

Jaxson brings curiosity, a steady approach and a genuine commitment to learning to his work, and it has been great to watch that translate into growing confidence and expertise with our clients and team.

As Avisar’s longest-standing team member, Bernice has been part of much of the firm’s history and growth. Along the way, she has built extensive experience, strong client relationships and a depth of knowledge that makes her a valued resource to both our clients and our team.

Bernice is known for bringing creativity and practical problem-solving to her work, particularly when navigating situations that don’t come with an obvious answer. She has also continued to expand her expertise throughout her career, including developing specialized knowledge in estate and trust matters.

The Senior Manager role recognizes not only Bernice’s technical experience, but the judgement, perspective and leadership she brings to Avisar every day.

Changes are coming to PST rules October 1. Is your business ready?

This is one of the biggest changes to PST in recent years. The tax will apply to several service businesses that have historically been exempt, including:

- Accounting services
- Architectural services
- Engineering and geoscience services
- Security services
- Non-residential real estate services

If your business provides these services, you may need to register with the Ministry of Finance.
