To my coach you are an incredible teacher and I am forever grateful for the work we put in. Countless nights inside the gym and outside the gym. It’s been an honour having you as my coach 🙏🏽

When I applied to be a participant, I was given this large responsibility to promote and fundraise while bringing awareness surrounding Youth Opportunities Unlimited’s efforts in tackling youth homelessness in my hometown, London Ontario.

I’d be lying if I didn’t say I was a bit nervous when I was at the media launch. There was this daunting list that kept spiralling in my thoughts:

How am I going to fundraise? Train? Be a mortgage agent? Post content? Capture my journey? Run my business? Film behind the scenes? Raise more money? Learn a new skill? Not get hit? Build lasting relationships with my fellow participants? How will I get the most out of this experience?

***

To be honest, I am an introvert with extrovert skills. Anyone you ask who knows me would say there’s not a single violent bone in me. So what am I doing in this ring?

Media day comes around and then there’s a photo that’s worth a thousand words. I had a huge hive break out the night before. Note to self: never buy scented Epsom salts. My skin was so swollen underneath. Patches of raised puffy red skin covered my entire body except my face. I was worried I wouldn’t pass the medical exam. While the photographer was taking my picture he said give me a growl for your photo. It was that moment I realized, I may not be violent but I sure as f**k am competitive as hell.

I am 5th in fundraising efforts out of 42. Let’s get me in top 3.
I am down from 218lbs to 211lbs, 203lb is the goal.
I am at a season best of 15.75km, let’s get to half a marathon.

There are 12 weeks left and I’m only getting better. Each day is a blessing to reinvent myself and bring a better version of me to the table.

Here we are another Monday, it’s week 15. There’s so much to be grateful all you have to do is look around. I’m blessed and thankful to see me my body and mindset change and adapt. We all have our set of obstacles but when we stop using them as a crutch to keep holding us back, that’s when magic happens. You get a chance every day to make that happen. This is more of a gratitude post than anything else.

Thank you for the love, support and motivation, 13 weeks to go!

I’ve been thinking a lot these days about my personal life, family, and career. Some days feel like there isn’t enough time to do it all. Yet other days feel like you’re barely making it to the end of the day, struggling to hold on. As the industry ebbs and flows with interest rates and housing prices decreasing and increasing, each day becomes a challenge. Something new to navigate. These unprecedented times serve as a reminder that life isn’t constant. You have to be willing to adapt and change as your environment does. Push yourself outside of your comfort zone. The only way to live a fulfilled life is by accepting change and knowing that you are in control of that decision every day.

Big news from the Bank of Canada! They just raised their interest rates to 5% to control inflation. This means borrowing money will become a bit more expensive. They're also tightening their policy of reducing the amount of money circulating in the economy.

On the global front, inflation is slowing down due to lower energy prices and cheaper goods. However, there are still price pressures in services because demand is strong and there aren't enough workers available. The United States is doing better than expected, with people spending more. But China's economy is cooling off, and Europe's growth has stalled.

In Canada, our economy is doing better than anticipated, with strong consumer spending and a booming housing market. However, because of higher interest rates, economic growth will slow down a bit. Inflation has come down from its peak, but prices are still going up more than we'd like. The Bank of Canada wants to bring prices back to normal, so they increased interest rates. They'll keep an eye on things to make sure our economy stays stable. 💼💰📈
