Canada Dental Benefit

We just wanted to let everyone know about the Canada Dental Benefit. If you want to know if you qualify for this benefit please read the following:

The interim Canada Dental Benefit is intended to help lower dental costs for eligible families earning less than $90,000 per year. Parents and guardians can apply if the child receiving dental care is under 12 years old and does not have access to a private dental insurance plan.

Depending on your adjusted family net income, a tax-free payment of $260, $390, or $650 is available for each eligible child. This interim dental benefit is only available for 2 periods. You can get a maximum of 2 payments for each eligible child. Benefit payments are administered by the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA).

The first benefit period is for children under 12 years old as of December 1, 2022 who receive dental care between October 1, 2022 and June 30, 2023.

If you feel you qualify - please find the criteria necessary for applying for this benefit:
1. Ensure your 2021 income taxes are filed
2. Confirm you receive the CCB benefit
3. Confirm you have access to your CRA My Account
4. If you have all of the above, please ensure CRA has your direct deposit information

Just as a reminder or if you are talking to any friends in Alberta, the applications for the Alberta Gov’t Affordability Payments are now open.

These payments will be $100 for 6 months to any parents of kids under 18 with household income below $180,000 and any seniors who are not already receiving the Alberta seniors benefit (as those receiving the benefit are automatically enrolled).
