Finally a bit of timely welcome news for a change from CRA! See the attached article if you have a bare trust…..a T3 Trust Return does NOT need to be filed for the 2024 tax year 👏🏼

The Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) will not require bare trusts to file a T3 Income Tax and Information Return (T3 return), including Schedule 15 (Beneficial Ownership Information of a Trust) for the 2024 tax year, unless the CRA makes a direct request for these filings.

Well our annual visitor showed up once again! This year he was up to some high-level scare tactics! There may have been a scream or 2 around Sask Drive West earlier today! 👻🎃🔪

Our visitor also brought a creepy kitty 🐈‍⬛ friend along too to help 🫣 Luckily both were chased away without any harm to anyone 😃

Just a reminder that our office will be closed on Monday November 13/23 to recognize and observe Remembrance Day. We hope everyone will take some time this weekend to reflect and remember and thank those who gave and those who still give of themselves to protect our rights and freedoms.

For those of you that are required to file a UHT return and haven’t done anything about it yet….well some reprieve for you was announced today! The filing deadline was extended to April 30/24 for 2022 UHT returns! MANY Canadians are caught into a filing position and still don’t realize it! If you own residential property through a corporation or a partnership or a trust (think of parents on title to help kids with financing or think of kids on title to a parent’s home for estate planning……these examples are known as a bare trust), even if everyone involved is a Canadian you may still have a filing requirement even if there is zero tax to pay….and penalties are stiff for failing to file! Contact our office to see if you have a filing requirement for your situation and we can prepare and file the necessary ANNUAL tax return on your behalf!

The Minister of National Revenue announces that owners affected by the Underused Housing Tax (UHT) will have until April 30, 2024, to file their returns for the 2022 calendar year without being charged penalties or interest.

And just like clockwork he’s back at it again! If you heard some blood curdling screams from Sask Drive West this AM there was a few tense moments for a while but the perp has now been contained and we will hope he doesn’t show up for at least another year!! 🎃🔪 👻
