"A bridge built of public dollars to rescue private yachts will never carry the poor across the river."

The road to hell is paved with good intentions. This comment is regarding the bailout of developers in Vancouver who made poor investment decisions. They were not prudent in times of low interest rates. The greed of the market perpetuated this. Now, they won't allow the market to correct itself. This stops the market from correcting to levels that younger Canadians may afford a home in the lower mainland again. It shows that if you are politically connected and wealthy, you will get bailed out of making bad decisions.
Investing has risk. People unwilling to stomach the risk they take should not be bailed out. They should let the market correct itself. This is not about affordable housing, because if it was, the market would allow that to happen. This is corporate cronyism at its worst.
