You could have uncashed cheques, rebates, refunds, and payments in your CRA account 💲✨️💲✨️

Read below how to check your account:

1. Log into your "My CRA Account"
2. On the right of the screen is a link called "Uncashed Cheques". This will bring you to a screen which will show if you have any uncashed items.
3. If you do - download the form by clicking on the link beside the uncashed amount.
4. Sign the form by yourself and a witness (who must be a non family member).
5. Submit the form through your portal.

A new cheque will be issued within 6 weeks of the form submission.

Let's talk about RRSP Contributions. 2023 may be over but you still have until February 29, 2024 to contribute to your 2023 RRSPs.

By understanding your income, tax bracket and contribution limit it can help you decide if taking action to top up you RRSPs if right for you.

With proper planning and understanding - RRSPs are a great way to help reduce the taxes you owe.

Nerd tip: even though you have to record RRSP contributions made during the first 60 days of 2024 on your 2023 taxes, you don’t have to apply them as a tax deduction on this return. Instead, you can elect to carry the amount forward to your 2024 tax return — or another future year.

ATTENTION: UBER & LYFT DRIVERS❗️

Uber, Lyft and grocery delivery partners are all considered self-employed or independent contractors. This means that income tax is NOT deducted from your earnings you receive from Uber.

Keep in mind drivers will not receive a T4 slip from Uber or Lyft and instead are required to fill out a T2125 form. It is your responsibility to keep track of your earnings and expenses to reduce the amount of tax you owe.

You may have heard about the Ontario Staycation Tax Credit introduced in 2022 - unfortunately this was not renewed for 2023. The Ford government introduced this tax credit as a one-year measure to help the industry recover after being hit hard by lockdowns.
