A quick note to everyone out there who paid their taxes ON TIME and IN FULL to Revenu Quebec this year:

If you got a scary letter saying you still owed the taxes (GST/QST or personal tax) and now penalties and interest as well, you likely don't have to worry! Our always efficient (*sarcasm*) and wonderfully accommodating (*really bad sarcasm*) Quebec Government appears to have jumped the gun in sending out notices of assessment this year. If you did get one of these letters and you did pay your bill on time, it will likely self-correct within a couple of weeks. Feel free to drop me a line if you want some reassurance....I'm temporarily changing my blog name to the Reassuring Accountant...it's got a nice ring to it, no?
