Today, on National Indigenous Peoples Day, we join in honouring and celebrating the vibrant cultures, histories, languages, and enduring contributions of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis peoples across Turtle Island. We are continually inspired by the strength, intergenerational knowledge, and entrepreneurial spirit we see within First Nations communities.

Here in the Greater Napanee region, we respectfully acknowledge that we live, work, and gather on the traditional lands of the Anishinaabe and Haudenosaunee peoples. We offer our deep gratitude to the Indigenous communities who have cared for these lands, waters, and traditions for countless generations.

We believe that celebrating the strength, resilience, and diversity of Indigenous voices is an important responsibility for all of us.

Whether you are participating in community ceremonies, listening to Indigenous stories, or supporting local First Nations creators, we hope everyone takes time today to learn, reflect, and celebrate. Today is a great day to learn and reflect.

Every constituent I meet with has a unique story & a different set of concerns, and I value the opportunity to listen and work toward solutions.

Among my meetings yesterday at my Napanee office, I had the opportunity to connect with Tim Reynolds from L & A Financial. He is very passionate and knowledgeable, and he and his team are doing important work supporting First Nations members facing challenges with CRA taxation and financial matters.

Stay tuned for a parliamentary petition I will be bringing forward to address wrongful taxation issues.
