The "Grocery Rebate" is now part of the Canada Groceries and Essentials Benefit (formerly the GST/HST credit).
​You can expect payments on these dates in 2026:
​April 2 (Regular quarterly payment)
​By June (Expected one-time "top-up" payment)
​July 3 (First increased payment, up 25%)
​October 5 (Regular quarterly payment)
​You do not need to apply; the CRA sends these automatically if you filed your 2024 tax return.

June 15, 2026: Deadline to file your taxes if you or your spouse or common-law partner are self-employed

Revenue Canada’s systems will be down starting tomorrow until the middle of February from what I have been told. So not sure what is all affected. Just a heads up. 😊

The Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) starts accepting 2025 tax returns on February 23, 2026, for online filing (NETFILE/EFILE), with the main deadline for most individuals and payments being April 30, 2026, and June 15, 2026, for the self-employed. Canadians can prepare by updating their CRA My Account, gathering tax slips (T4s), and getting familiar with digital filing options for faster refunds.

Mileage Log - gas receipts
Advertising, insurance, bank & interest charges, legal, accounting & professional fees, maintenance & property repairs, meals & entertainment, office expenses & supplies, rent & utilities, salaries & benefits.

Business-Use-of-Home Expenses
If you run your business from home, you may be able to deduct a portion of your household expenses if you meet one of two conditions:
3. The space is your principal place of business.
5. You use the space only to earn business income and use it regularly to meet clients, customers, or patients.
Deductible expenses are calculated based on the percentage of your home's total area used for business, or the proportion of hours it is used. Eligible expenses include a portion of your rent or mortgage interest (not principal payments), property taxes, utilities, and home insurance. Note that you cannot use home office expenses to create or increase a business loss.

How much you can get in 2026
So, what does this mean in real dollars?

According to the CRA, the maximum GST/HST Credit amounts for the 2026-2027 benefit year will be:

$356 per eligible adult (up from $349 in 2025)
$187 per child under 19 (up from $184)
An additional $187 for single individuals who qualify for the supplement (also up from $184)
That means a family of four could receive up to $1,086 over the year — or about $271.50 every quarter. Not too shabby for a benefit that lands in your bank account without you having to apply every year.
