Kids education-it is difficult to continue the savings plan now that you are gone. I usually budget $100,000 per child so that the surviving parent can help with education, wedding, etc.

Emergency Fund - death takes us by surprise and having $50,000 in the bank to help reorganize your life is helpful.

Income Replacement- can the surviving spouse handle all the bills on their own or would they need a little help to get back on their feet. Either for a couple of years or longer.

Final expenses - range is $10,000 - $50,000
