Ontario's new auto insurance reform officially went into effect yesterday, July 1st. Medical and rehabilitation benefits remain mandatory, but standard coverages like income replacement, caregiver, and housekeeping benefits have now transitioned into optional add-ons.

Existing coverage automatically carries forward upon renewal unless you request changes in writing, while brand-new policies will build coverage from the new baseline up.
