⚓ From digital design to the shipyard floor!

As part of Genoa’s Gaining Ground initiative, our team travelled to Vancouver for Shipbuilding Development: Taking Designs to Production — a hands-on technical immersion designed to connect our day-to-day work with shipyard production.

Our Mentor Leads and Junior Designers got valuable “boots on the ground” experience, seeing firsthand how digital designs translate to the scale and complexity of physical ship construction.

Experiences like these are about more than technical skills. They’re about learning from one another, building production awareness, and giving our people opportunities to grow.

A big thank you to Vancouver Shipyards (VSY) for welcoming our crew and giving them the opportunity to tour the shipyard, learn from the teams on site, and see shipbuilding in action.

Genoa is proud to be providing detailed design support to Serco Canada Marine, who, as Design Agent to Senesco Marine, LLC, are providing functional and production engineering services on the new 75-car passenger ferry for the Delaware River and Bay Authority.

Genoa’s relationship with Serco goes back to the Joint Support Ship program and continues on the current Polar Icebreaker. Genoa also has a history with Senesco, working on up to 17 projects between 2006 and 2015, including Barges, tugs, and ferries.

Measuring 275 feet in length, the new DRBA ferry will accommodate up to 75 vehicles and 400 passengers and will feature a diesel-electric hybrid propulsion system. It will service the Cape May, New Jersey, to Lewes, Delaware route as part of a long-term Marine Master Plan developed to ensure a reliable, efficient, and sustainable ferry service for the next 40 years.

This project is smaller in scope than many of Genoa's current programs, but Genoa Talent Solutions is committed to delivering high-quality expertise to support successful ex*****on and strengthen our relationships with both Serco and Senesco.

🐾 In honour of International Dog Day yesterday, we’re celebrating some of the four-legged friends who have visited the Genoa office this year!

Did you know Genoa celebrates Furbaby Friday? Employees can bring their furry pals to the office for the day in exchange for a small donation, with all proceeds supporting the SPCA St.John's. 🐶💙

It’s a win-win: our pups get a day at the office, our team gets some extra furry coworkers, and together we get to support animals in our community.

Today, Genoa Design announced that Laurie Balan has been appointed Chief Executive Officer as Gina Pecore retires from the CEO role following a planned leadership transition.

Gina’s leadership has helped shape Genoa’s success and reputation, and she will remain connected to the business as a member of the Board of Directors.

Laurie’s appointment marks a new era for Genoa at a prosperous time for the business, with a continued focus on our people, customers, continuity and long-term growth.

The summer of boatloads of fun continues! ⛵🌅

Last weekend, our Halifax team took to the water for their summer social, enjoying a sunset cruise aboard the Harbour Queen along the beautiful Halifax Harbour.

With live music, waterfront views, and a golden-hour backdrop of the Halifax and Dartmouth skylines, it was the perfect way to relax, connect, and enjoy a summer evening together.

The first Friday of every month, Genoa Design shows up and delivers furnititure to our furniture recipients.

A huge thank you to Genoa Design International for their continued and consistent support of Home Again Furniture Bank. 💙

Through their ongoing commitment and regularly joining us for deliveries, we are able to ensure the delivery of essential furniture to individuals and families in need. Having dedicated community partners we can count on helps us continue turning empty spaces into comfortable homes filled with dignity, stability, and hope.

Families are able to gather around their own kitchen table, relax on a comfortable couch, and sleep in their very own bed. We’re incredibly grateful to have Genoa alongside us, making a meaningful difference in our community month after month. 🏡
