CRA changes coming in 2026

We’re committed to keeping your information safe.

Some of the security measures we have in place this tax season include:

❗New: In February, you’ll be required to add a backup multi-factor authentication (MFA) option to your CRA account which will help to prevent you from getting locked out.

✅ Revoking CRA user IDs and passwords that may have been obtained by unauthorized third parties through external sources.

Update your info with your CRA account, quickly and securely!

You can make changes to your:

💍 Marital status
🏦 Banking/direct deposit info
📧 Email address
🏠 Mailing or residential address

Steps to update:

1️⃣ Sign in to your CRA account (or register if you don’t have one)
2️⃣ Select your Individual account to go to My Account and then go to Profile
3️⃣ Scroll to the info you want to update
4️⃣ Enter the new details and save your changes
5️⃣ Look for on-screen confirmation — this ensures your info has been updated

Tip: Updating your info online is the fastest way to make sure your refunds, benefit payments, and notices reach you correctly.

GST Break over the holidays.

🌟 In case you missed it: The Government of Canada is introducing temporary GST/HST relief on certain items beginning December 14th, 2024 to February 15th, 2025.

This means that, when you shop during this period, there will be no GST/HST charged on the qualifying items when you buy them.
