Keep yourself safe from fraudsters!

We are seeing an increase in financial fraudulent activity. I want to remind you to stay vigilant and inspect all materials sent to you very carefully.

Some materials created can look legitimate and are not always easy to identify as fraudulent. We have recently seen fraudulent GIC brochures branded as Canada Life that even I had to look closely at to make sure wasn't legitimate! To keep yourself safe, consider some of these helpful tips when reviewing printed and digital materials:

• Ensure the contact information found in the materials matches the contact information as found on the company’s
corporate website.

• Any payments for products would be made directly to the corporation through either cheque or EFT, or wire
transfer, NEVER directly to an advisor.

• Reach out to myself or the Client Service Centre of the financial institution of the materials you received if you
have questions.

The Insurance Bureau of Canada (IBC) issues fraud alerts to inform consumers about insurance scams. Fake policies and non-existent insurance companies can put you at risk. If you suspect fraud, you can contact the IBC TIPS Line at 1-877-IBC-TIPS or the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre at 1-888-495-8501.

Your financial well being is important to me and I’m here to help answer any questions if you’re concerned about a product being offered to you from an outside source.

Please like and share this post around your feeds to help keep our community safe from fraud!

Hate seeing stories like this, but it is a great reminder of the value of advice. Review your beneficiary designations often, and make sure they are backed up in your will.

If you need help with this, reach out in the private messages or give me a call.

Dianne Taylor is urging others to check their listed beneficiaries routinely for things like RRSPs and life insurance policies after her husband's sudden death left her and her teenage daughter faced with losing the bulk of their family's savings.

A lot of us are choosing to this Easter weekend, but there is still good news to be shared with your friends and family.

Did you know that many of the major life insurance carriers in Canada are offering flexible payment options to clients affected by COVID-19? If your ability to pay premiums has been affected by this pandemic, I may be able to help provide some options to reduce or defer your payments without losing valuable coverage.

Please share this important information among your networks. If you want to know more about your options in these difficult times, I welcome you to reach out directly to me.

We all need to help each other stay safe, healthy, and well. If you need help adjusting or creating your financial security plan, I am available.

Be well!

I am in the business of keeping promises. While I always hate to see a valued client pass away and witness the pain in their family and loved ones, I take pride in being there to help survivors negotiate the claims process. While it is completely normal to question if an insurance company will keep up their end of the deal – especially during a global crisis like the current COVID-19 pandemic – the three death claim cheques I have delivered in the last few days have helped to make sure that my clients can take care of their loved ones even after they go.

Even in the face of economic downturns like we are currently experiencing we are still processing claims “business as usual”, meaning that I can make sure promises are kept. At a time when these families have just lost a loved one, and on top of that are dealing with extra economic pressures, I get to be the guy with the cheque in hand. For that, I am extremely grateful.

Stay safe and stay healthy out there, we are all in this together.

A great, simple read on why life insurance offered by your lender usually isn't the right decision. Private coverage guarantees your family's protection, comes with several benefits and additional flexibility, and is almost always less expensive.

If you have any questions about how this all works or what it might cost, feel free to reach out.

Consider life insurance instead
