Please share this information to your parents, grandparents and others, particularly if they are not tech savvy.

And remember these basic points :

CRA will contact you by mail if you owe taxes. By the time they do phone you? You are well aware you owe taxes.

Owing the CRA money is not a crime and the RCMP will not be coming to get you. Nor will they phone you to make sure your home before 'coming to arrest you'

No Federal agency will ask for Bitcoin or gift cards. NONE. The only people that ask for Bitcoin are the ones out to rob you.

With that in mind have some fun and just mess with these guys when they do call you.

Scam artists are using phone numbers from more than a dozen federal government departments to defraud Canadians — making it look as if the calls are coming from legitimate government agencies and police departments — CBC News has learned.
