We are just 13 days away from the 2025 IG Wealth Management Walk for Alzheimer's!

Did you know that over 700,000 Canadians are currently living with dementia, and this number is projected to reach nearly one million by 2030? Dementia affects individuals in every community and has a profound impact on families.

We're looking forward to the Trenton Park walk at 10am May 25th and hope to see you there!

We have a BIG fundraising goal this year, and we are 63% of the way to meeting our goal. A HUGE thanks for everyone's support so far - including our own team's contributions, we have raised over $5,000 so far! We are beyond grateful for you all.

The IG Wealth Management Walk for Alzheimer’s is back again - our team is walking at Trenton Park, May 25th, at 10am.

The U.S. has officially imposed a 25% tariff on Canadian and Mexican imports, with Chinese tariffs rising from 10% to 20%. Energy exports from Canada, like natural gas and crude oil, face a 10% tariff instead of 25%. These tariffs are inherently inflationary and reduce real income for consumers. Both the U.S. Federal Reserve and the Bank of Canada expect tariffs to reduce GDP and increase inflation.

What does this mean for your investments?

While the headlines sound dramatic, this is not the time for knee-jerk reactions. There are two ways to look at this; the first is short term and the second one is obviously the long game.

In the short run, currency depreciation can partially absorb some of the shock, but not entirely. So, diversification remains key. European and Chinese markets have performed well year-to-date, gold is more volatile than usual but tends to benefit from tariff uncertainty, and government bonds continue to provide stability as yields drop and rate cut expectations increase.

We’ve already seen significant reactions in some parts of the markets, and these moments create opportunities. Great companies will stumble and when they do, they’ll present attractive entry points. This is a time to think like a hunter.

Staying the course

Markets move in cycles, and while these tariffs create short-term noise, they’re unlikely to derail long-term investment strategies. Tariffs are unlikely to last long. Prices we’ll see in the coming days or weeks are going to start to look attractive for those willing to look beyond the current trade war. Patience and discipline are crucial. Our approach, which emphasizes global diversification and risk management, is built to navigate periods like these and take advantage of them.

🎄✨ We had an amazing time hosting our High-Net-Worth client Christmas party last weekend!

It was wonderful to celebrate the festive season with such fantastic people. From the delicious food from J Conway Catering and team, to the lively conversations, great music from Albert Dunnewold Music Page and Scott MacFarlane, all held in a beautifully decorated venue at the deCoste Performing Arts Centre; it was a night to remember.

A big highlight of the evening was our blind and silent auction fundraiser for the Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia.

Slaunwhite & Associates had four prizes under the Christmas tree to be won; a golf-themed kit, a lifestyle kit, a BBQ kit with all the accessories a grill-master could want, and the ultimate prize of a travel package that included a suitcase, luggage tags, toiletry bag, and a $1,500 TRAVEL VOUCHER(!!!) for Travel Our Way with Carla MacKay.
We thank Carla for her contribution to this ultimate prize.

Best of all, through everyone’s generous support, we are thrilled to announce that we were able to raise over $1,700 for the Alzheimer Society at the party.
Additionally, for those guests who could not attend, we are making a donation in lieu, bringing the total raised to over $3,500.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and made it so special, we are grateful for you and your business. We are looking forward to more great moments together in the new year! 🎉🥂
