Tax Obligation and Renouncing U.S. Citizenship: Essential IRS Rules
Eligibility for Renouncing U.S. Citizenship Taxes
Generally, an individual must be 18 years old
Renouncing must be done voluntarily
An individual must have another citizenship (so as not to become stateless)
Must appear in person before the U.S. consulate or embassy to renounce
Must sign the oath of renunciation
Must pay the “documentation” fee
