December is not only about holidays.
Reminder: December 15 is the deadline to pay personal tax installments.
If you are required to make installments, make sure your payment is submitted on time to avoid CRA interest.
Better to take care of it now and enjoy the holidays stress-free.

Did you see the new 2026 Personal Federal Tax rates?

CRA has released the updated federal brackets for 2026, and they’re worth a closer look — especially if you're planning salary/dividend strategies, year-end bonuses, or adjusting payroll withholdings.

The lowest bracket remains at 14%, but indexation has shifted income thresholds upward.
Middle brackets (20.5% and 26%) now start later, giving a bit more room before tax rates jump.

This may slightly reduce overall tax for individuals with income near the lower thresholds — or may open planning opportunities for those whose income hovers around the bracket cut-offs.

Did you know?

When a Canadian business hires someone who works remotely from another country, the tax rules don’t disappear just because the person is physically outside Canada. CRA still looks at who controls the work, where the value is created, and whether the service benefits a Canadian business. In some cases, the income of a foreign contractor can still be considered “Canadian-source,” potentially triggering GST/HST obligations - and if any part of the service is performed in Canada, Regulation 105 may require the Canadian payer to withhold 15% tax.
Remote work may feel borderless, but tax rules definitely aren’t.

Home Renovation Tax Credits: New Rule You Can’t Ignore in 2026

Starting in 2026, expenses claimed under the Medical Expense Tax Credit (METC) can no longer be claimed again under the Home Accessibility Tax Credit (HATC).

Today, certain home modification costs for individuals with disabilities can sometimes fall under both credits. The new rule removes that overlap.

What this means for taxpayers:
You’ll need to choose one credit — the one that offers the greater benefit. No more double-claiming.

If you work with clients who have accessibility-related home renovations, it’s a good time to revisit your planning approach for 2025–2026.

4 New QuickBooks Online Features That Can Save You Time
https://zoom.us/clips/share/srxqby3HRR-JgmTRAoMyNA

QuickBooks Online is constantly adding tools to make bookkeeping and business management more efficient. At the latest QBO conference, a few updates caught my eye — and I’ve already seen how they can streamline workflow.

1️⃣ Recurring Transactions in the Client Card – See all recurring transactions for a specific client in one place.
2️⃣ Client Notes – Keep important details (payment preferences, integrations, etc.) handy.
3️⃣ Google Drive Integration – Upload receipts directly, without downloading or emailing.
4️⃣ Estimate → Invoice – Turn estimates into invoices in just a couple of clicks.

💼 As a QuickBooks Online expert, I work with over 100 active QBO files, help businesses migrate from QuickBooks Desktop to QBO, consult on automation to save time, and support other bookkeepers who need an extra hand.

In this short video, I’ll show you where to find these features and how to make the most of them.
