We just moved into our new building in July. A week in, with new and greater financial burden and everything else that comes with a move. People asked what else are you going to do now?

The answer: nothing yet.

We needed time to hold the line, settle in and know our numbers. Our new normal - monthlies, our burn, our baseline. Then, and only then, would we consider adding anything.

Should you hire? Can you afford the equipment? Is this the right time to take on a bigger client?

Most growing businesses aren't losing money to bad decisions.
They're losing it to things nobody noticed.

When we take over a growing business's books, we almost always find money leaking in one or more of the same five places:

1. Invoices that went out and never got followed up on
2. Subscriptions still running from a tool nobody uses anymore
3. Pricing set by gut feel instead of actual margins
4. A tax bill that showed up as a complete surprise
5. Decisions being made on numbers that are months out of date

None of these are obvious. That's kind of the point.

They're slow. Easy to miss when you're running the business and doing the books at the same time.
But they add up fast.

Revenues are increasing and profits are trending likewise. But do you know your revenue and profit drivers?

Your books can't answer that if there’s one "Revenue" line and the whole business is lumped together.
Your strongest service and your break-even one will look identical on paper.
And you keep doing all of it, with no idea what to do more of.

When we split that revenue line apart, there's at least one surprise. Every time.

Sometimes it's a "side" offering with the best margin in the company.

A few people have asked why we haven't posted anything about our grand opening yet.

We wanted to take it all in before we shared it.

There's a particular kind of pride that comes from opening the doors to something you spent years working toward. But what mattered most wasn't the new space.

It was seeing it filled with the people who helped make it possible.

Clients. Family. Friends. Supporters. People who believed in us, encouraged us, trusted us, and celebrated this milestone alongside us.

Building something takes a lot of unglamorous, behind-the-scenes work, and milestones like this are not the finish line.

They remind us why we started and who we’re doing it for. 🫶
