What should you do If CRA audits you?

Remain calm.

When the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) audits a business or a taxpayer, it closely examines the business' books or the taxpayer's records to make sure they support the amounts as filed in tax returns, which in turn ensures the business/individual pays the appropriate amount of taxes and receives any amounts to which it is entitled to.

Thus, when CRA audits, businesses or taxpayers must submit all CRA-requested records and receipts.

This allows CRA to determine if the business or the taxpayer has fulfilled their tax obligations and is receiving the benefits they are entitled.
