Excitement, connection, and a few pre-symposium nerves 🎤✨

At the New Voices Symposium in Alberta, John and Vedanshi caught up with fellow students to hear how everyone was feeling ahead of the event, what they were most excited for, and what this experience meant to them.

From meaningful conversations to shared learning, it was a great reminder of the community being built within our MEd and MCP programs. 💛

We recently had the opportunity to host Dr. Brian Thomas-Peter as part of our Learning Together series at City University in Canada.

With decades of experience across clinical psychology, forensic psychiatry, and mental health systems, he brought a perspective that challenged us to think more critically about how we understand and respond to distress, especially in young people.

He reflects on rising ADHD diagnoses and asks a bigger question about what’s really going on, not just at an individual level, but within the systems around us, from classrooms to funding to the pressures educators are navigating every day.

We’re grateful to create space for conversations like this, ones that make you pause and think a little deeper.

Mental health care isn’t always visible. It’s often quiet, non-linear, and happening in ways others don’t see.

This Mental Health Awareness Week, we’re making space for that, and for the small, everyday moments of connection that support our well-being.

Together, stronger connections can lead to better mental health.
