Be nicer to your accountant this year. We are squeezed in every direction – staffing, CRA system failure, and client expectations. Modern day tax firms have built their process around partially relying on CRA auto-fill data, digital delivery, and hybrid-remote work. The recent CRA system failure in accepting important tax information from issuers effectively breaks that process. Telling taxpayers and tax firms not to rely on CRA data and submitting all slips is an easy and irresponsible thing to say. To our clients, we will continue to do our best to get the work done. This is just who we are – responsible public accountants.
With the election coming up, the economy, crime, healthcare, trade – are on the top of everyone’s mind. My one and biggest ask is – government accountability. I support DOGE, the Canadian way.
