That's a wrap on another tax season! Thanks again to all our clients who we have the pleasure of working with during this busy time and throughout the year. It wasn't the smoothest and it wasn't the easiest couple of months, but we appreciate our clientele for sticking with us through a rocky season. Thank you!

Reminder to clients - if you have received a call or email that your tax returns have been completed, we need to get your signature ASAP - before 2pm Wednesday April 30th. We will not e-file your return without a signed T183.

If you wish to e-sign your return, please reach out to us. Otherwise, please stop into the office prior to 2pm Wednesday April 30th. The sooner the better. Thank you.

JORDAN, (CONSTANCE) JEAN

Mom passed away surrounded by her loving family on March 4, 2025 at the age of 92. She is now resting in the arms of her Lord and Savior with no more worries.

Mom was born June 7, 1932 in Champion Alberta to Norman and Myrtle Patterson. She was raised in Champion with her sister Donna and brother Doug. She took her teacher training in Calgary in 1951 and taught in Carmangay, Vulcan and Champion through the years. When she retired from teaching she worked with Dad on their farm west of Champion.

Mom met and married Vernon Jordan August 5, 1953 and together they raised three children Rick, Les and Diane. Except for a year spent in Vulcan she lived her life in Champion.

Mom is survived and will be missed by her children Rick (Lynn), Les (Jan), Diane (Tony). By her grandchildren Tyler, Blake (Amber), Cole (Laura), Lowell (Tiara), Kassie (Nathan) and Jordan (Kaitlin) and by her great grandchildren Mackenzie, Dalin, Joshua, Jace, Grayson, Hadley, Leo and Marin. She is also survived by brother-in-law Mel Jordan and sisters-in-law Rita Jordan and Yvonne Jordan, numerous nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband Vernon, parents Norman and Myrtle Patterson, sister Donna Arnold and brother Doug Patterson.

Mom loved her Lord. He was the guiding force in her life. In Mom’s own words “I believe that God is the source of it all” and she wanted Him to get the glory. She believed He is real, that He lives today, that He loves us beyond words, that He is waiting for our invitation to Him to be part of our life.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Champion Community Hall on March 14, 2025 at 2:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Vulcan County Health And Wellness Foundation (PO Box 28, Vulcan, AB T0L 2B0 , or via E-Transfer at [email protected]); or Champion Cemetery Association, (PO Box 99, Champion, AB T0L 0R0 or via E-transfer at [email protected]).

Note to clients - for clients who are reporting a capital gain/loss (from property sale or from investment tax slips) or disposition of a principal residence on Schedule 3 of your tax return, we cannot currently e-file those tax returns and need to wait for CRA and our tax software to update the relevant schedules in a future software update.

The CRA and Revenu Québec are still currently working on the final versions of the forms due to the announcement to delay the capital gains inclusion rate change. These forms will be marked as “DRAFT” and the new versions will be made available in upcoming releases.

The CRA and Revenu Québec are giving relief on late-filing penalties and interest for T1 and TP1 filers until June 2, 2025.

Individuals reporting a taxable capital gain, net capital loss, or principal residence designation on Schedule 3 aren't approved for filing with this release. Filing for these individuals will be approved in a future release.

For taxpayers not reporting Schedule 3 but who have a spouse or common-law partner reporting Schedule 3, we recommend to wait and file both returns together when Schedule 3 has been finalized.

We do not have a time frame on when the relevant forms and software update will be available. Until then, we are forced to wait to finalize and e-file the tax returns of the affected clients.

We would like to introduce you to our new practice management and client relationship management platform that we will be rolling out shortly for our 2024 personal tax season – TaxDome - https://taxdome.com/

TaxDome will be our new, secure client portal, designed to provide you with a seamless and efficient experience. As part of our continued investment in technology to improve your experience, we have implemented this portal to give you better access to key information and services, and allows us to become more efficient in our processes. The platform allows to you safely and securely upload documents, track progress on files, chat and respond to questions in real-time, e-sign documents—all in one place.

If you used ShareFile with us previously, the functionality is very similar when it comes to the client portal and e-signing documents., but TaxDome offers clients new features and allows us to better gather and track client information and workflow from the back end.

For our personal tax clients - If we have your email address, keep an eye out for our invitations to activate your account, welcome email, personal tax organizer and engagement letter. If we don’t have your email address, or you don't receive the welcome email in the next day or so, and you are interested in using TaxDome, please get in touch with us.

Once your account is set up, you can log in at https://kco.taxdome.com/login or download the TaxDome client app through your app store and use it.

We will continue our subscription with ShareFile through to at least May 31st to help ease with this transition, but are asking to clients to transition away from ShareFile and in to TaxDome right away. If you have been using ShareFile to hold your documents/tax returns/financial statements/business records/etc, please make sure to download and save all your electronic records to your computer. Once we cancel the ShareFile subscription, these documents will no longer be available to you on that portal.

As with many new platform roll outs, we’re sure there will be bit of a learning curve for everyone – our office included – so please bear with us while we implement TaxDome. If you have issues, questions or concerns with using TaxDome there is a client help center - https://client-help.taxdome.com/ - or you can reach out to us and we’ll be happy to try and help.

We want to assure you that using the TaxDome platform is not a requirement for our clients and we are not currently moving to online only for our office, but we are recommending becoming familiar with the platform and all of its features as our office works to become more efficient in our processes and try to limit the amount of paper we are using.
