After more than 30 years as an Investment Advisor, my business partner Wayne Schooley is retiring this summer, effective August 1, 2026.

Wayne and I have been partners for eight years this June. Ours was very much an arranged marriage—two fairly opposite personalities brought together with a shared goal. There was a slight adjustment period (as there always is), but we hit the ground running and quickly built something special.

What has always stood out about Wayne is his calm demeanor, his incredible kindness, and the deep, genuine relationships he has built with clients over decades. Clients trust him because he listens, because he cares, and because he shows up consistently—year after year—with steadiness and integrity.

Some of my favourite memories together include our very first client event—a business luncheon held during the worst ice storm the city had seen in years (huge thanks to the brave clients who still made it out)—and our many road trips to visit out‑of‑town clients, where I would politely forbid Wayne from keeping talk radio on in the car.

Over the years, I’ve learned so much from Wayne—about patience, perspective, and the importance of taking excellent care of people. Together, we built a business grounded in one simple principle: put our clients first, always.

I will greatly miss working alongside my awesome business partner, but I couldn’t be happier for him. Wayne, wishing you an incredible start to a very well‑deserved retirement this summer.
Thank you for everything.

This Mother’s Day, I’ve been reflecting on what truly motivates me.

As a Mom, my greatest hope is to give my daughters the confidence and freedom to explore the world, lean into their unique strengths, and discover what lights them up.

That kind of support doesn’t happen by accident.

Financial discipline — being intentional with my income month after month — gives me the ability to say yes as their interests grow, change, and evolve. Whether that’s education, sport, creativity, or new experiences, it’s about creating opportunity.

As a busy working mom, I know how easy it is to put financial planning on the back burner. Life is full. When I coach clients, I focus on the power of small, consistent decisions that compound in powerful ways.

Being intentional today is one step closer to helping my daughters reach their full potential tomorrow.

To the mothers doing their best to balance ambition, care, and foresight — you’re not alone.
Happy Mother’s Day 🤍

Tax refund season is here—and it’s an opportunity to make your money work a little harder for you.

Whether it’s paying down debt, maximizing your RRSP, or taking advantage of the flexibility of a Tax-Free Savings Account (my personal favourite), small decisions today can have a meaningful impact over time.

If you’ve received a refund, take a moment to be intentional with it.

Who doesn’t love spring?

It’s a season of fresh starts, new beginnings, and renewed energy. A chance to clear the slate and imagine what’s next.
As a wealth advisor, I have the privilege of walking alongside clients through many of life’s new chapters—both exciting and challenging. More often than not, these moments are deeply connected to personal finances:

Can I step off the employee treadmill and finally start my own business?
Is now the right time to purchase the vacation property we’ve been saving for?
With the kids leaving home, what does this next season look like for us?
How do we transition confidently into retirement and make the most of this chapter?

Even life’s harder transitions—death, divorce, or unexpected change—can become a positive fresh start with the right mindset and the right support.

Many people assume that because I work in finance, my job is all about numbers. It isn’t.
It’s about people. Their stories. Their families. How they feel about money—and how they want to live their lives.
My role is to listen, guide, and support clients as they move forward with clarity and confidence—so they can flourish, not just financially, but personally too.

This spring, I hope you’ll take a moment to consider what’s possible in your own journey. And if a new chapter is calling, a thoughtful conversation might be the perfect place to start.

I know I’m personally energized by a few new chapters—both professionally and personally. There’s something special about diving into a new project with fresh perspective.

Happy spring. 🌷

Tax season isn’t just about filing — it’s about planning.

One of the biggest misconceptions I see is that investment returns are all that matter. In reality, after tax returns are what truly impact long term wealth.

A few reminders we’re discussing with clients right now:
• Not all investment income is taxed the same
• Proper use of registered and non-registered accounts can make a meaningful difference
• Simple strategies like asset location, charitable giving, and income splitting (where appropriate) can significantly improve outcomes

The right planning today can mean more flexibility, clarity, and control down the road.

If tax season has you thinking about whether your portfolio is structured efficiently, we’re always happy to have that conversation.

A modestly positive year for well-diversified investors remains on the table. Historically, it hasn’t paid to underestimate the resilience of capital markets.

Brent Joyce, BMO Private Wealth’s Chief Investment Strategist, discusses this and more in the latest BMO Nesbitt Burns Global Markets Commentary, “Solid start interrupted, not derailed (so far).” http://spr.ly/6001B6URic

Money is personal — even when it doesn’t feel that way.
FOMO (Fear Of Missing Out) shows up at every age and every stage of life.

How much should you be worth by now?
What is your neighbour earning compared to your household income?
How did your brother‑in‑law afford the new cottage?
Should you be helping adult children with a down payment — and how much is too much?

Each stage brings its own pressures to “keep up.”
My role is helping clients build a roadmap that reflects their goals, their net worth, and their cash flow — not someone else’s lifestyle. Together, we optimize wealth each year, compound returns as tax‑efficiently as possible, and track progress against a clear plan.

Because no matter your net worth, no one can do everything every year. We all have limits.

Understanding what truly matters to you — and knowing where you’re headed — can quiet the noise when a junior colleague retires early or a neighbour posts their latest lavish vacation.
When you have a plan, comparison loses its power.

If you’ve ever found yourself wondering, “Am I doing enough?” — it may be time for a different conversation.
