The work that makes a company attractive to a buyer is mostly the same work that makes it easier to own.
A management team that runs things without you in every meeting. Systems that let the business scale without adding chaos. Revenue that doesn't lean too heavily on a handful of customers. Clean numbers you can explain. Fewer surprises hiding in contracts.
Buyers value all of that.
But you get the benefit long before anyone makes an offer: more time, more room to grow and more choice about what happens next, and when.
Leave it until you're ready to sell and the gaps are often bigger than expected. Some take years to close.
