The Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) has confirmed that online filing for the 2025 tax year opens on February 23, 2026.
BUT before rushing to file, make sure you’ve received all required tax slips and receipts to avoid reassessments, delays or refund slowdowns.

🚨While NETFILE opens in late February, most employers and financial institutions are not required to issue major slips like T4s and T5s until March 2, 2026.
Filing too early could mean missing critical income information.

Good news! If you forgot your CRA user ID or password, you may be able to register for a new credential online, no need to call us.

Get your most recent tax return and multi-factor authentication (MFA) information ready. To help keep your account secure, your old credential will be removed.

If you've lost access to your MFA information or if your account is locked, our phone support remains available to assist you.

How to register for My Account for individuals, My Business Account and Represent a client to get access to the CRA sign-in services.

The CRA income tax season begins with online filing likely available from Feb 23, 2026.
🚨 The deadline for most individuals to file is April 30, 2026, which is also the deadline to pay any balance owing.
💰 Self-employed individuals have until June 15, 2026, to file, but must pay by April 30.
