As someone who spends a lot of time talking with business owners and investors across Canada, I'm optimistic that Bill C-5 will push for fewer bureaucratic roadblocks.

Following my previous post, there have been some proposed changes to U.S. tax and immigration legislation that could impact Canadian snowbirds.

Now keep in mind these are just proposals at this stage. Final legislation may change - or not pass at all. Nonetheless, it's important to be informed.

Of all the daily news coming from our neighbours down south - this one's worth keeping an eye on.

The U.S. has proposed changes to it's withholding tax rules that could impact Canadian investors. Especially those holding U.S. securities in non-registered, TFSA, FHSA, RESP, or RDSP accounts.

This bill has been passed by the U.S. House of Representatives but has yet to be passed into law. It could change or not be passed at all. Nonetheless it's important to stay updated on it.

Another key piece of U.S economic data has been released yesterday morning, with the U.S. jobs report coming in below expectations.
