It's national life insurance awareness month!

Many have known the benefits of permanent life insurance for years, but it seems that it has become more popular recently with volatility in markets and uncertainties of inflation. We have also seen a rise in public education/curiosity from content creators on social media platforms.

Permanent insurance is beneficial to all, especially those that are business owners. You’re investing corporately earned tax dollars compare to your personal tax dollars. In Manitoba for example, you’re investing with money that was taxed at 9%, compared to personal income taxed at 50.4%.

With permanent insurance products you also have the benefit of tax deferred growth (no T5’s), conservative volatility with ~4% returns (would need ~8% in the market), the death benefit and cash value can be passed on for succession/estate planning, used for retirement with minimal taxes and finally, the largest benefit, the cash value and/or up to the total premium can be leveraged against to put back into your own company, real estate or any other CRA sanctioned investment. Essentially this leaves you with two assets and one liability.

However, which type of insurance do you choose? Traditionally many firms only talk about two types of permanent insurance, but there is a third!
