Selbstverständlich hat der Schutz der Bevölkerung aktuell die höchste Priorität. Aber die sozio-ökonomischen Folgen der Maßnahmen dürfen nicht vergessen werden. Mehr als vier Wochen Shutdown werden tiefste Spuren hinterlassen. Nach der Krise müssen die Maßnahmen der Politik kritisch reflektiert werden. Länder wie Südkorea und Taiwan haben vorgemacht, wie man professionell mit so einer bedrohlichen Situation umgeht.

So proud on David. He did a great job an now is being awarded.

We are very proud to announce that yesterday Dr. David Großmann was awarded the Finanzkompass 2019 award in the category "Best Dissertation" by the initiative Finanzplatz Hamburg e.V. for his PhD thesis on bank regulation (Bankenregulierung: Basel III Leverage Ratio & Net Stable Funding Ratio).

The jury explicitly praised the academic excellence and the practical relevance of the findings. David's dissertation results from a close cooperation with Hamburger Sparkasse and was supervised by Prof. Dr. Peter Scholz (BankingProf), HSBA, and Prof. Dr. Stefan Okruch, Andrássy Universität Budapest

The aim of the Finanzkompass Award is to raise awareness for innovative scientific work in the financial sector.

Shalom! Today I presented "Cryptocurrencies as an Asset Class?" which is joint work of Sinan and me at 26th Annual Meeting of the Multinational Finance Society. The meeting takes place at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. I am really honored to be here and to discuss our ideas on cryptocurrencies. Spoiler alert: we find that cryptocurrencies qualify as an own asset class ;-)

Zusammen mit Marcus bin ich heute vom Stifterverband und der KTS eingeladen unsere Auszeichnung für "Eine Uni - Ein Buch" entgegen zu nehmen bei Bilderbuchwetter. Unser Beitrag GERMANY 2064 war eines der Projekte, die mit 10.000 Euro Preisgeld ausgezeichnet wurden.

Kein technisches Medium wird die Beziehung zwischen Lehrer und Schüler ersetzen. Doch die weiterführenden Schulen dürfen bei der Digitalisierung nicht außen vor bleiben.

To be honest... I do not believe in the sharing economy. Ever heard about the Tragedy of the Commons?

Sharing works for some goods but not all of them. The article also raises some good questions without answering them:

"Changing terms of service, uncommon circumstances, and in the event of the startup itself closing down, could mean you fall through the cracks, and end up paying a lot more than you bargained for.

Plus, the sharing economy relies on people being, you know, decent. If people are going to start pooping on shared electric scooters, how are we supposed to trust them with anything else?"

I am also not positive about the sustainability argument... Because you have to produce overcapacities so that sharing may work.

Assets are overrated.
