✈️ Flying from Germany? This change could affect your next trip.

Germany reduced its air passenger tax- a fee that’s included in the cost of flights departing from German airports.

So... does that mean cheaper flights?

Not necessarily.

The tax paid by airlines has gone down, but airlines aren’t required to pass those savings on to passengers. Your final ticket price still depends on factors like demand, competition, fuel costs, baggage fees, and when you book.

Here’s what changed:
✈️ Short-haul flights: €2.50 less tax
🌍 Medium-haul flights: €6.33 less tax
🌎 Long-haul flights: €11.40 less tax

What this means for you:
✔️ Compare prices across different airlines- not just one.
✔️ Check nearby departure airports if you live close to a border.
✔️ Look at the total price, including baggage and seat selection.
✔️ Book early when possible, especially during peak travel periods.

Small policy changes like this can have a real impact on your travel budget- but only if you know what to look for.

Your late train owes you money. Almost nobody collects 🚉💥

Here’s how to claim, start to finish:

1. Open the DB Navigator and go to your trip
2. Tap the delayed journey - the refund form is built in
3. Enter your IBAN and submit. That’s it, about 5 minutes

You get 25% of your fare back at 60 minutes late, 50% at 120. Even on the cheapest Sparpreis.

3 things that save you the argument:

Screenshot the delay when it happens - arrival times get “corrected” later.
What counts is when you arrive, not when you leave.
You have 12 months to claim, so that old ticket might still be worth something.

Germany passed a health insurance law on 10 July. It affects 9 in 10 people living here - and if you earn under €77,400, you’re one of them by law, not by choice.

Prescriptions up 50%. Dental cover cut. And from 2028, the free insurance for your non-working partner mostly ends - roughly €1,200 a year, paid by you alone.

Including the one protection almost no international ever claims. 🤯
