I wanted to share a quick article I’ve written about something that catches out a lot of British expats in Spain — Modelo 720.
It’s not a tax bill, but a declaration that Spanish tax residents must complete if they hold more than €50,000 in overseas assets. Simple enough, yet every year, people are fined or flagged simply for not realising it applies to them.
The good news is that, with a bit of planning, you can often simplify or even remove the need to declare certain assets altogether. Spanish-compliant investment structures make life far easier (and cleaner) once you’re living here.
If you’re already settled in Spain or planning the move soon, it’s worth a read.
