JDH Training & Consultancy Services Ltd developed from the sister company JDH Bookkeeping & Accounting Services Ltd under the ownership of Jacqueline Diane Hooper. Firstly, as a sole trader in 2003 and later as a limited company from 2005. This business began as a bookkeeping business that developed to include tax, final and management accounts and other business services. We noticed a need for tr

aining in bookkeeping and payroll, among our client base and from this had the idea to set up a separate training company to help small businesses feel confident about taking responsibility for their own bookkeeping and payroll.

For many businesses, this update covers April–June 2026 income and expenses.

Don’t panic—this isn’t your Self Assessment tax return. It’s simply your quarterly MTD update, but it still needs to be submitted on time.

📢 A great evening spent with the RCT Landlords Forum!

We were delighted to be invited to speak alongside Hafod and Rent Smart Wales about the upcoming changes to Making Tax Digital and what they mean for landlords.

We put together information packs packed with useful guidance, including what expenses landlords can claim, FAQs for both sole traders and limited companies, and of course a few JDH goodies too! 🎁

The response was fantastic. There were so many questions and discussions that we actually ran out of time! We’re incredibly grateful for the interest shown and are excited that there are already plans for us to come back and continue the conversation.

One of our favourite parts of the day was chatting with landlords afterwards, hearing about their businesses, answering questions, and helping them feel more prepared for the changes ahead.

A huge thank you to everyone at the RCT Landlords Forum for the warm welcome, hospitality, and the delicious buffet! 🥪☕

It’s always rewarding to share knowledge and help people feel more confident about their finances.

📚✨ We swapped spreadsheets for school desks this week as the JDH team took a field trip to our local Welsh school to take part in their very first Careers Day!

Alongside council workers, aerospace engineers, ground workers and other professionals, we had the opportunity to show pupils the huge variety of careers available to them and, of course, prove that accounting is anything but boring!

The students put their detective skills to the test with our Sigma Sundaes Mystery, solving clues and thinking like real accountants to uncover what had gone wrong in the business. 🍦🔍

We’re pleased to report that the challenge was a big hit, and the JDH goodies seemed to go down just as well! 🎁

One of the most rewarding parts of the day was seeing the students engage with careers they may never have considered before. Who knows? We may have inspired a few future accountants!

Our highlight of the day was hearing several pupils come back at the end and tell us that we were their favourite table. That made all the preparation worthwhile. ❤️

A huge thank you to the school for inviting us along. Supporting our local community and helping young people explore their future career options is something we’re always proud to be part of.

🚗 HMRC's mileage rates have increased for 2026/27!

If you use your own vehicle for business journeys, you could now claim 55p per mile for the first 10,000 business miles.

Even better, many people don't realise they may also be entitled to an additional 5p per mile passenger allowance when carrying a colleague on a business journey 👀

These small allowances can add up to significant savings over the course of a year.
