I run The Pike Partnership with my daughter Hannah & my husband Mark.

Some people think that's unusual. Working with family.

But honestly? It's one of the best decisions I've made.

She brings a different perspective. Fresh ideas. Energy.

And I bring experience. Patience. A few hard-won lessons.

Together, we help people plan their futures. Retirement. Inheritance. Life transitions.

It's personal for us. Because we're building something together too.

P.S. Have you ever worked with family? How did it go?

A busy week in markets.

Here's what caught my eye.

US markets rose for the eighth week in a row. Nvidia reported another strong quarter - sales up 85%, earnings tripled. But even that wasn't enough to lift the share price. Expectations are sky-high.

SpaceX confirmed it will list on 12 June - expected to be the largest IPO in history. Estimated value: up to $2 trillion.

Closer to home, UK gilts had a better week. 10-year yields dropped back to 4.9%, down from above 5% the week before. Unemployment ticked up to 5%, and a leadership contender committed to sticking with current fiscal rules. Both helped ease pressure.

Markets are now expecting two rate hikes this year, down from two or three.

Oil prices eased slightly. Commercial reserves are helping cushion the impact of the Strait of Hormuz disruption - for now. Energy experts say we have six to eight weeks before things get tighter.

Hannah took me along to boxing last night… and judging by the picture, we’re definitely feeling it today 🥊😅

Definitely a reminder that stepping out of your comfort zone is always worth it - even when your arms disagree the next day.

A busy week in markets. Here's what caught my eye.

UK borrowing costs hit their highest since 2008. 10-year gilt yields ended the week above 5.1%. Political uncertainty and energy prices are driving it.

But the UK economy grew 0.6% in Q1 – the strongest of any G7 nation. Car sales hit their highest since 2019. Good news, though the full impact of the Iran situation is still to come.

US inflation rose to 3.8% in April. Energy costs are the main reason. Rate cuts look unlikely for now.

And the government published more detail on how IHT will apply to retirement savings from April 2027. Worth a look if you haven't reviewed your plans recently.

Nobody teaches you how to handle money after loss.

One day you're part of a team. The next, you're making every decision alone.

Maybe it was a partner. Maybe a parent. Maybe the person who always "handled the finances."

And suddenly it's all on you.

I've sat with people in that exact moment. Overwhelmed. Grieving. Not sure where to start.

My job isn't to rush them. It's to slow down. Listen. Help them find their feet.

Because money is never just about money. It's about security. Control. Peace of mind.

If you're navigating this right now, you're not alone.

P.S. What helped you most when you had to take the reins?

Yesterday, we had such a wonderful evening at the Friends of Anchor Brave event, celebrating the incredible Brave Models of 2026. It was such an uplifting and inspiring event, and we were delighted to share our table with some lovely clients.

I also had the chance to catch up with the Friends of Anchor patient choir, who I work with each week during our singing sessions, which made the evening even more special.

If you’re not attending any of the Friends of Anchor events over the coming days, I’d really encourage you to show your support in any way you can. It’s such an important cause and well worth taking the time to read more about how you can help: https://friendsofanchor.org/index.php/how-you-can-help

There is also a silent auction running for anyone who would like to support the charity through a donation or bid: https://uk.givergy.com/bravecotc26/?controller=lots&category=All%20Lots

A busy week in markets. Here's what stood out.

US markets hit new records again. Tech is flying - Intel and AMD have doubled in value over the past month. Earnings season came in better than expected. Good signs.

Oil prices dipped mid-week on hopes of progress in Iran peace talks - falling from $100 to around $95. Still some way to go, but movement in the right direction.

Closer to home, UK gilt yields touched 5% for the first time since 1998. Local elections shook things up - Reform came out on top.

Markets are watching closely, but yields have started to ease back.
US jobs came in above expectations too. The labour market is holding up well.
