Honestly, I was shocked when I found out how many people still don't know about this new rule... 😟
If you're running a small business, renting out a property, driving for a living or just working for yourself — HMRC has changed the rules and it affects you directly.
From April 2026, Making Tax Digital (MTD ITSA) is now live. This means if your income is over £50,000, you can NO longer just file your taxes once a year. You now have to report to HMRC every 3 months. Miss a deadline? You get an automatic fine. No warnings. No second chances.
