The Farming Life Centre Supporting farming & rural life in the Peak District. All our services are free, impartial & confidential.

The Farming Life Centre supports farming in the Peak District working with farmers, their families and the local community. We host a number of social and health related group and projects including: Care Farming Training Programme, Rural Social Group, Lunch Club, Farming Memories and Walking for Health. Our Health Trainer can help you to take small steps to improve your health and lifestyle. Dur

ing 2021 we will be hosting a series of workshops, forums and online events aimed at helping rural businesses become more resilient and profitable. Our Farm Business Development Officer offers practical help and advice to farmers and rural businesses helping with: Basic bookkeeping, grant advice, guidance on form filling and livestock record keeping, signposting to other support agencies and business planning.

Peak District Limestone Farmers Event

"Productive Grazing, Thriving Nature and Shared Knowledge"

Thursday 9th July 2026 at 7pm

Join us for a hands-on session exploring how effective cattle grazing can work with the limestone landscape, boosting biodiversity while still delivering strong business results.

We'll look at what good grazing management really looks like on limestone ground:

How to get the most from your pasture without over-doing it
How cattle behaviour shapes habitats
How small tweaks in timing, stocking and movement can improve both nature outcomes and profitability

Expect a practical, farmer-led discussion out in the field, with real examples of what's working locally and what's not. A chance to share ideas, compare approaches, and pick up tips you can take straight back to your own grazing system.
