Meet Charlotte, another experienced member of the LCA team! 👋

Charlotte began her career as a Farm Secretary within a large farming enterprise, where she developed extensive knowledge of estate management and accountancy matters. She later became secretary to the Chief Executive of North Devon Meat, a large farmers’ co-operative, further strengthening her experience within the agricultural sector.

Since then, Charlotte has specialised in bookkeeping and the preparation and submission of VAT returns for local farming businesses. She is highly skilled in using Microsoft Office and Xero to support clients efficiently and accurately.

Before joining LCA, Hazel enjoyed a successful career in Fashion Buying in London before retraining at Petroc and achieving her AAT Level 3 qualification.

Hazel specialises in bookkeeping, financial analysis, and VAT returns, supporting a wide range of clients with accuracy and care. She also plays an important role in the smooth day-to-day running of the office through her office management responsibilities.

With hands-on experience using Xero, QuickBooks, and Sage Accounts software, Hazel brings both expertise and efficiency to the team every day.!

The deadline for providing P60s to employees is approaching. Employers must ensure all staff receive their P60 by 31 May following the end of the tax year.

A P60 summarises an employee’s total pay and deductions for the tax year and is an important document for tax records, mortgage applications, and benefit claims.

If your income has dropped this year, you could be overpaying in July - but only if you leave your tax return until the last minute.

Getting your tax return done early means you can apply to reduce your July payment on account based on your actual figures, not last year’s higher income. That can make a big difference to your cash flow 💸

📢 New 40% First Year Allowance Now in Force!
From 1 January 2026, UK businesses can benefit from a new 40% First Year Allowance (FYA) on qualifying plant and machinery expenditure. This change was introduced in the Autumn 2025 Budget and is now live.
✨ What this means for your business:
• You may be able to deduct 40% of the cost of qualifying assets in the year you buy them for tax purposes.
• It applies even if assets are acquired for leasing — something that wasn’t fully covered under previous reliefs.
• Unincorporated businesses (sole traders, partnerships) can also use this allowance — not just limited companies.
This relief sits alongside other capital-allowance incentives like full expensing and the Annual Investment Allowance (AIA), so it’s worth planning how best to use the new rules to your advantage.
💡 Quick tip: Ensure assets are purchased and put to use from 1 January 2026 to qualify — and check which assets are eligible (certain second-hand assets and cars are excluded).
