For properties in the South West, the requirement starts on 15 August 2027, with registration due by 14 November 2027.

The new Private Rented Sector (PRS) database, called ‘Register your rental property’, is being rolled out across England in stages.

Your deadline depends on where your rental property is—not where you live. For example, if you live in the South West but let a property in Birmingham, the West Midlands deadline applies. Regional deadlines are listed in the government guidance linked below.

If you let under an assured or regulated tenancy, you’ll need to register yourself and each rented property—even if you own just one and manage it without an agent.

• £65 per property annually, with yearly renewal.

• Failing to register could result in substantial fines and may restrict your ability to regain possession of your rental property.

Prepare now by checking your property paperwork. Review safety certificates, check any licensing requirements and bring your property and tenancy records up to date. Getting organised early will make registration easier and give you time to address any missing information or outstanding compliance issues.

Received an Email from Companies House? Here's What You Need to Know

Many companies may have recently received an email from Companies House regarding upcoming changes to accounts filing requirements.

The Government has now confirmed that from 1 April 2028 small and micro companies will be required to file profit and loss accounts with Companies House. Importantly, these businesses will be able to opt out of having their profit and loss accounts published on the public register.

The move to software only accounts filing has also been confirmed, with implementation delayed until April 2028 to give businesses more time to prepare.

There is no immediate action required, and we will continue to keep clients informed as further guidance becomes available. If you have any questions in the meantime, please get in touch with our team.
