It's just over ONE WEEK until BDO NI Tax Partner Lorraine Nelson joins the incredible Rory's Miles 2 Mayo challenge!!

Lorraine's been all about putting the steps in - in fact, she's even been spotted on the Inca Trail in Peru recently getting in those hard yards! 👟

Lorraine is super grateful to everyone who has got behind her fundraising efforts so far and in the final days leading up to the challenge is describing walking nine marathons in nine days as "a mix of daunting, exciting and slightly surreal!" 🙂

🏓 What a smashing afternoon! 🎉

A huge thank you to our team who got involved in our annual table tennis fundraising event last week!

From picking up a paddle and getting competitive, to donating or cheering from the sidelines, we’re incredibly grateful to everyone who helped us raise money for a great cause, Cancer Fund for Children.

There was plenty of spin, some serious rallies and a few hard-fought points, but ultimately there could only be one champion…

🏆 Congratulations to Adam, who came out on top after battling it out with Julian in the final.

Thanks again to everyone who helped make it a smashing success! 🏓

Day 5 will see the group walk from Carlow all the way to Kilkenny... swiftly followed the next day by a trek from Cork to Mallow! 👟

In the final clip of this conversation, BDO NI Trainee Adam Faulkner asks HSBC's James Pomeroy about the future of accounting amidst an AI backdrop.

A great response from James about how he sees careers evolving and the opportunities he believes will be created. This interview was a fantastic experience for Adam and a fascinating insight for all of us at BDO NI. 💡

We're delighted to welcome Ethan back to the team this week for a three-day work experience placement.

Ethan is an A Level student at Kesgrave High School and is doing work experience within our accounts team.

Having joined us back in June through our Business Insight Programme with Queen's Business School, we're thrilled that Ethan enjoyed the experience enough to return and spend more time learning about life at BDO.

For us, one of the most rewarding aspects of work experience programmes is seeing relationships continue beyond the initial placement. It gives young people the opportunity to build on what they've learned, gain further insight into different career paths, and grow their confidence in a professional environment.

An exciting day in the offices as we say hello and welcome back to 3 new members of the . 🤩

Jenna, currently studying at Queen's University Belfast, is joining the Advisory team for four weeks.

Straight off the back of , Matty, an Upper 6th student at Campbell College Belfast, is undertaking work experience with us - and Shay, also studying at QUB is returning to our Audit team for two weeks.

With just over 4 weeks to go until BDO NI Tax Partner Lorraine Nelson takes on the Rory's Miles 2 Mayo challenge for Cancer Fund for Children - here's a little look at legs 3 & 4 of the journey... 😲

The team will set off from the Aviva Stadium on Day 3 and pass some big landmarks along the way including Croke Park and even Dublin Airport until they reach Keogh's Farm in Oldtown. 👟

Day 4 will begin at Celbridge and travel all the way through Naas to eventually reach Kildare.👏

Today we're shining a light on BDO NI Tax Director Christopher Hodgett 🎯

Chris advises on a broad range of UK and international tax issues, commercial transactions, due diligence, business structuring, with a particular focus on owner-managed businesses and complex transactions.

Alongside technical advisory work, Chris is interested in how firms grow, how structures hold up in the real world, and how tax insight can support better commercial decisions.

Outside the numbers, Chris is a lifelong Rock and F1 fan (both passions that he admits require ear plugs)! 🤘🏎️
