Big changes are coming for self-employed people and landlords!
From Making Tax Digital (MTD) is changing the way millions of people report their taxes to HMRC.
If you're a sole trader or landlord, you'll soon need to:
✅ Keep digital records
✅ Use HMRC-approved software
✅ Submit quarterly updates instead of relying on just one annual tax return
The changes will be introduced in stages, starting with those earning over £50,000 from April 2026, before expanding to lower income thresholds in the following years.
While the amount of tax you pay won't change, the way you manage and report your finances will.
If you're unsure whether these changes affect you, MCM Accounting can help you prepare, choose the right software, stay compliant and take the stress out of the process.
Planning ahead now could save you time, money and unnecessary headaches later.
