When Insight Business Solutions began in 2016, accountancy looked very different. Paper receipts, manual spreadsheets and desktop software were still part of everyday business life.

Having a dog in the office brings so much more than a friendly face. Suzie helps lift morale, encourages us to take regular screen breaks and creates a calmer, happier working environment; all of which can have a positive impact on wellbeing and productivity.

Whether she’s greeting the team, joining a meeting or simply snoozing nearby, Suzie always makes the working day a little brighter.

From a back bedroom to our very own building… complete with a bar! 🥂

On 14 August, we’ll officially celebrate 10 years in business, and what a journey it’s been.

The business began in 2016 with one simple goal: to give smaller businesses access to high-quality financial advice and Finance Director-level support without the cost of employing a full-time FD.

Before long, Tracy joined the team, the back bedroom was no longer big enough and client meetings were taking place wherever we could find space around the house!

Our journey has since taken us through our first office, a move to Garstang and eventually to our own building on St George’s Road. Originally built in 1826, it took two years and plenty of love to transform it into the friendly, relaxed space we have today, including our basement bar!

Ten years later, we’re incredibly proud of how far we’ve come and so grateful to every client, team member and supporter who has been part of the journey.

⏰ MTD: YOUR FIRST DEADLINE WAS 7 AUGUST

Making Tax Digital for Income Tax is now in place for eligible sole traders and landlords, which means income and expenses must be reported to HMRC every quarter.

Your tax payment dates haven’t changed, but you now need to keep digital records and submit regular updates throughout the year.

There are no penalty points for late quarterly updates during the first year, but the updates are still mandatory and must be completed before you can submit your annual tax return. After 2026/27, repeatedly missing deadlines could result in penalties.
